President’s Profile
Mr. Ravin Wickramaratne has risen to the helm as the President of the Association of Cricket Umpires Sri Lanka for the 2024-2026 stretch, claiming the spot unopposed—a clear testament to his reputation in the cricketing world. Currently, he wears the hat of Hon. Vice President of Domestic Cricket at Sri Lanka Cricket, a role he’s held since 2019, having cut his teeth in cricket administration as Assistant Secretary back in 2004, and again from 2016 to 2019.
A linchpin in Sri Lanka’s cricketing arena, Wickramaratne has steered the ship as Tournament Director for landmark events, including the Asia Cup in 2003 and its 2023 edition in Dubai, the Emerging Asia Cup in 2023, and the Women’s Asia Cup in 2024. He’s also been at the forefront of the Lanka Premier League, orchestrating both its inaugural and second editions. His knack for pulling off such high-profile tournaments underscores his unyielding commitment to pushing the envelope for Sri Lankan cricket and cementing its legacy in the region.
An alum of Sri Sumangala College, Panadura, Wickramaratne not only played for Sri Lanka at the Under-19 level but also left his mark with the Board President XI Team. His first-class career with Panadura Sports Club was marked by his dynamic contributions, a legacy he continues as the immediate Past President of the club. Adding more feathers to his cap, he’s managed Sri Lanka A, the Under-19 team, and the Wayamba Cricket Teams.
With nearly 25 years under his belt in cricket administration, Wickramaratne is a seasoned stalwart, a figure whose insights and experience have become second nature to the sport in Sri Lanka. He’s also made waves as a commentator, lending his voice and expertise across several radio and TV networks.
A marketing whiz in his own right, Wickramaratne’s corporate savvy has been the ace up his sleeve, enhancing his impact across the many hats he’s worn in Sri Lanka’s cricketing world.
